Self-care
Self-care
Self-care can be difficult if you're not used to it. Just...read through my list here and see if you're in need of any of this.
- Take a multivitamin every day
This one may seem like a stupid thing but it really does help, especially if you're leading a sedentary life or if you have a desk job that doesn't allow you to move to the point where going to the restroom seems like a "break."
- Get out of any horrible situations as fast as you can
This one's harder than it looks. It could be a bad relationship where your partner or a family member is subtly controlling you. It could be a toxic work environment; you know, one of those that props itself up as a "family" and then "encourages" you to participate in activities with the scum of the earth. Symptoms of this may include a loss of activities you previously enjoyed, substance abuse (including alcohol), increased irritability, chronic fatigue, etc. Get out of the bad situation as fast as you feasibly can; if it's a really horrible one, just leave it and deal with the aftermath later.
Perhaps the most famous recent example is that of Tasha Adams, the ex-wife of convicted terrorist Stewart Rhodes. In an interview, her oldest son Dakota Rhodes said that it took TWO YEARS of planning to escape from him. Her divorce was granted just days before Rhodes was sentenced for his part in the 1/6/21 terrorist attack. These things can take time, but I still recommend leaving as soon as feasibly possible.
- Pop a melatonin tablet before you go to sleep
This really does help with sleeping. I personally take a 12mg tablet most nights about a half-hour before I go to sleep.
Keep that brain sharp. You're never too old to learn how to use newer technologies or seemingly impossible tricks on Microsoft Office Suite programs (like pivot tables in Excel or how to even use PowerPoint).
Drugs will just slow you down, especially pot. Cocaine does not make you any faster, it causes heart enlargement, and it's expensive.
Don't ignore your own body's warning signs and needs. Take care of yourself first.
