JavaScript is Evil
JavaScript is Evil
"Why did I have to disable JavaScript to see your website? And why foes it look so...bland?"
First, let me point out that JavaScript is the programming language that gives websites its "appealing" look. All those moving images, all those slides that keep sliding as you use your mousewheel to scroll down, those annoying ads...all of that is Java. Those ads could also contain any piece of bad code in it.
As previously stated, this is an informational website. I know most people in this day and age have the attention span of a goldfish thanks to social media and that's why most websites are given those "flashy" looks, but what are they installing on your computer in the background? Are they exploiting a vulnerability in either Android or iOS?
That last sentence? Oftentimes when you read an article on the latest iOS update it involves patching something in Safari. If Java is allowed to run in your browser on your phone, it could exploit any number of vulnerabilities. This is how most malware gets on your phone. To clear it, most of the time you just need to close that browser tab, reboot your phone, then delete your browsing history.
Chromium-based browsers allow you to disable JavaScript, as does the uBlock Origin extension. There is another extension called NoScript which will do the job just fine, but you don't really need it if you're running uBlock Origin (NoScript is the sole extension on Tor Browser).
To conclude this, at the very least have a browser dedicated to your online accounts that has Java enabled and have another browser with Java turned off to do your browsing.
